Do Basenjis Get Along With Cats? Obviously, some basenjis and cats can and do get along, as there are many households where both basenjis and cats coexist peacefully. However, all animals are individuals and have individual responses, so introducing a specific cat to a specific basenji can sometimes be a challenge.

Many Scottish terriers have an odd medical condition. It is called Scotties Cramp. It is a mild neurological disorder. Scotties under stress or exercising may move erratically, when suffering from this neurological disorder, but seem fine when resting. Labrador retrievers, as their name indicates, were bred to retrieve things. However, most people think of them today as retrieving sticks, or other similar objects. In reality, they were originally bred to help fishermen by retrieving fishing nets!

Pekingese dogs were sacred to the emperors of China for more than 2,000 years. They are one of the oldest breeds of dogs in the world. Commoners in Imperial China were forbidden to own Pekingese dogs. Its also important to remember that many species of DOGS have a very strong instinct to hunt prey. In such cases, it will probably take more time to get your DOG and cat to be friends, rather than hunter and hunted, but it is usually possible if you have the patience.

French poodles were originally used as hunting dogs, but, because their thick coats proved a problem in the bush and water, their owners started clipping them. They left hair on the ankles to protect against rheumatism, which is why poodles sometimes appear to have unusual haircuts.

One way to get a basenji and cat used to each other is to put one in a crate, usually the cat, and bring it into the room where the other is present. Then you can reward both animals for being calm in each others presence and you will not be dealing with the potential for a fight.
